I’m often asked about the interview and relocation process involved in helping professionals make the move abroad. Here’s what you need to know…

Interview and screening process

The recruitment process is extremely simple and works as follows:

  • We review your job application. Provided you pass our initial screening review, we send a reply asking additional questions about your background, achievements and aspirations
  • Subject to your responses, we then schedule a Skype, telephone or face-to-face interview with you (depending on your location). This step is to firmly establish whether we are going to be able to help you in your job search offshore
  • We look to find out more about you as an individual; it’s also a chance for you to ask us questions about living and working and offshore
  • We ensure your CV is fully up to date and suitably polished for presentation
  • We discuss available openings with you and forward your application on agreed opportunities to employers, together with our recommendation for you to be shortlisted for interview
  • We liaise to arrange a mutually-convenient time for your interview(s), ensuring you have the chance to properly prepare beforehand
  • After the interview, we follow up with the employer and provide you with a ‘market rate’ assessment of any resulting job offer
  • Your new employer will send you an application form for the work permit
  • You complete the form, return it to the company, wait 6-8 weeks… and start packing your bags!

About the relocation process

The good news is that moving is easier than you may expect:

  • Employers will guide you through the Immigration approval process and pay for your work visa
  • Firms will pay for your return air fare plus an allowance for excess baggage
  • You’ll be put up for two weeks on arrival in a guest house or hotel and often provided with free transport for a similar initial period
  • A number of employers also provide an optional start-up loan to help you get settled and all will give guidance on things like opening a bank account, finding accommodation, signing up with a local GP and so on

Short of packing your bags for you, it can’t get any easier than that.
