We looked in the first article at how to make your job adverts stand out. here we look at how your company can offer a potential employee something they can’t refuse…
How Does Your Offer Stand Out in a Crowded Job Market?
If you’re struggling to find how your company stands out, small tweaks to the following areas will greatly improve your position.
#1. What benefits can you offer?
If you can’t offer a competitive salary, you need to find other benefits. Luckily today, salary has taken a back seat to some of the other benefits available. For example, health insurance is a big concern for candidates after the pandemic, as are flexible working hours or the ability to work remotely. If you offer training or mentor programs, you can gain the interest of those looking for growth. Benefits such as gym membership and wellness programs are all appealing.
#2. Dedicate time to your employer brand
Your employer brand is how people view you and your company as an employer. A lot of employer brand today is your online presence. Is your website modern and easy to navigate? Are you keeping on top of your social media updates—and replies? Above all, keep an eye on review sites to make sure any disgruntled ex-employees haven’t left negative reviews. If so, reply to these in a professional way so that viewers can see you are active towards overcoming issues.
#3. Check your recruitment process for gaps in communication
Gaps in communication during recruitment are red flags for gaps in communication in the workplace. Your recruitment process needs to have clear communication methods for each step so that no potential candidate slips through. Create a system for responding to applicants, follow-up communication, and notification of offers or not.
Though it might mean more work for you or your recruitment manager, it’s worth asking how candidates like to be contacted. Not everyone can answer a phone call and not everyone is on social media. Using contact methods that suit candidates will increase your chances of filling the vacancy.
#4. Leverage your company culture to stand out
People looking for employment want to know that the environment they are working in is a positive one where they are able to feel comfortable. Company culture is more than just Friday night drinks. It’s about shared values, engagement, and diversity. This can often be a company’s greatest asset when it comes to standing out in a crowded job market. Make see your company culture can be seen everywhere from your website all the way through to candidate interviews, the job offer process and beyond.
